Jurcevich, Schell compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

Two members of the Michigan State track and field team, seniors Jim Jurcevich (Defiance, Ohio) and Steve Schell (Dearborn, Mich.), competed in the 5,000-meter run at NCAA Indoor Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 5. Both Spartans finished in the top ten.
Jurcevich earned All-America honors, finishing eighth with a time of 14:10.67. This is the second year in a row that Jurcevich has been an All-American in the 5,000 meters. He has also earned All-America honors during the 1998 outdoor season in the 10,000 meters and the 1998 cross-country season.
Schell placed tenth with a time of 14:11.21. This was Schell's first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
Two other Spartans will compete in tomorrow's action of the championships. Senior Kyle Baker (Anderson, Ind.) and junior Ryan Taylor (Melbourne, Australia) will both run in the 3,000 meters. The race is scheduled for 7:40 p.m.
