Men's Golf Captures Fourth at Northern Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. - ? Michigan State's men's golf team played another strong tournament, taking fourth place in the 13-team Northern Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Spartans shot 303-293-301=897 at the par-72, 7,253-yard Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Toledo, which was in second place after day one, won the tournament with an 890.
Senior Carlos Foulquie (Madrid, Spain) and Sophomore Nathan Clark (Mason, Mich.) each finished in the top 10. Foulquie finished in a tie for fifth place, shooting 72-75-75=222, and Clark ended in tie for seventh, shooting 74-74-75=223. These were Foulquie and Clark's best finishes of the year.
Junior Dennis Riedel (St. Claire Shores, Mich.) ended in a tie for 15th place, shooting 78-74-73=225. True freshman Lorne Don (Toronto, Ont.) also played well, shooting 79-71-78=228, for a share of 25 place
Michigan State will next be in action on Oct. 13-14 at the Adams Cup of Newport in Newport, R.I.
