• The Spartans won seven Big Ten Championships, 1988 Rose Bowl Championship and 1986 NCAA hockey title during his tenure as athletics director
• As athletics director, supervised numerous facility upgrades, including construction of the Breslin Center, Duffy Daugherty Football Building indoor practice field, indoor tennis complex as well as a maintenance and restoration program for Spartan Stadium
• Assistant football coach at Michigan State (1956-57)
• Three-year letterwinner as a center/linebacker on football team (1950-52); member of back-to-back National Championship teams in 1951-52
