Jenison Field House is currently the home to several Spartan athletic department offices as well as women's gymnastics, wrestling and men's and women's track and field. The building underwent a major renovation project in 2001, and also houses locker rooms for baseball, rowing, soccer and softball.
The Michigan State gymnastics team has competed in all of its home meets in historic Jenison Field House since the inception of the sport at MSU during the 1972. Built in 1940, Jenison was the home of Spartan basketball until 1989 and is where Magic Johnson helped lead Michigan State to its NCAA Championship in 1979.
Jenison is also the home of Michigan State wrestling. Featuring one of the nation's only dual meet wrestling platform, fans are treated to a truly unique wrestling experience. In addition, the Spartan wrestling program unveiled a 20-by-25 foot mural on the north curtain in 2001, highlighting former Spartan stars. Banners commemorating MSU's eight Big Ten championships and the 1967 National Championship team hang in the rafters, bordering the platform.
For gymnastics, the competition arena runs East and West to accommodate 5,017 fans. Seating is available on all two sides of the event setting, while fans can also utilize the second level of seating in the Field House to view the competition.
Members of the MSU gymnastics team benefit from a spacious practice facility, located on the third floor of Jenison Field House. The spacious area allows for multiple practice apparatus and room for an athletic training location inside the practice facility. Also on the third floor is the newly renovated locker room. The team area includes individual lockers for each gymnast, bathroom and shower facilities, as well as a computer work station.
